The "Stick Control" book by George Lawrence Stone, written in the 1930's, is a justly famous book that has inspired many generations of drummers over the years. Much of its fame is because of the ideas that "aren't" written, but rather, "invented" by creative drummers, always up for a challenge and reacting to different rhythmic impulses over the years. TD takes the book (especially the first couple of pages) and gives you the ideas and suggestions for many, many more books, taking the original patterns and suggesting alternative ways of looking at it and playing through it. Different stickings can emerge, coordination possibilities and more.
